Wendy Davis, the former Texas gubernatorial candidate and state senator, will campaign for Democrat Hillary Clinton in Iowa, the Clinton campaign announced Wednesday.

Davis will appear at organizing events in seven cities — Des Moines, Ames, Cedar Falls, Dubuque, Davenport, Coralville and Cedar Rapids — on Dec. 17 and 18.

The former state senator garnered national attention with a 2013 filibuster on abortion legislation then pending in the Texas Legislature. She lost last year’s race for governor of Texas to Republican Greg Abbott (and wrote a column this week for Politico lamenting her decision to support open carry legislation during that contest).

In her Iowa appearances, Davis will be talking about “Clinton’s commitment to protecting women’s access to health care and defending Planned Parenthood from Republican’s attacks,” the campaign said.
