Zadeh defeats Lasater to win election to Fort Worth council seat

Ann Zadeh won election Saturday to the Fort Worth City Council seat being vacated by District 9 representative Joel Burns.

With all 22 precincts counted, Zadeh won 1,633 votes to Ed Lasater’s 1,399.

Lasater led with early-in-person and mail ballots counted, but Zadeh took over the lead when ballots from Saturday’s polling were counted.

With 21 of 22 precincts counted, Zadeh had 1,440 votes, compared to Lasater’s 1,223.

With 17 of 22 precincts counted, Zadeh had 1,328 votes, compared to Lasater’s 1,152.

With 11 of 22 precincts reporting, Zadeh had 1,037 votes, compared to Lasater’s 900.

Earlier in the evening, with unofficial early in-person and mail-in ballots counted, Lasater had 632 votes to Zadeh’s 586, or a 51.89 percent advantage.

District 9, which includes the Southside, downtown, Near West, and Oakhurst, has 22 reporting precincts and 36,128 registered voters.
