Alcon Foundation providing eye screening at State Fair of Texas

If you can’t see clearly now …

According to the Texas Medical Association in 2016 Texas is the uninsured capital of the U.S., with 4.3 million Texans lacking basic health insurance. These numbers are even higher for those without vision coverage, which can cause serious health issues, as regular eye screenings are a key part of healthy living.

Alcon Foundation, based in Fort Worth, is using the Texas State Fair to help the local community understand the importance of eye health. On Oct. 11, Alcon Foundation doctors will offer complimentary eye health screenings to the first 350 fair goers who stop by the tent, the foundation said in a news release.

This is also World Sight Day, an annual day of awareness to focus global attention on blindness and vision impairment, often preventable conditions.
