Alzheimer’s Association uses Longest Day to increase awareness

The North Central Texas Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association is using the summer solstice to help increase Alzheimer’s awareness.

Alzheimer’s, a chronic neurodegenerative disease often the cause of dementia, causes more deaths in the U.S. than breast and prostate cancer combined.

Longest Day, June 21 is an event in which teams participate in various featured events to help fundraise and raise awareness for Alzheimer’s patients and their loved ones. The Longest Day not only symbolizes the long challenge ahead for those with the disease and their families, but will provide ample time for activities to take place.

“Whether you’re a team of one, or a team of one hundred, you can create your own experience to raise funds by doing what you love in honor of those affected by the disease,” their website states.
