Dallas-Fort Worth-area Simon properties announce More Than Pink spring initiative

Firewheel Town Center, North East Mall, The Shops at Clearfork, Allen Premium Outlets and Grand Prairie Premium Outlets announced Monday, April 9, their More Than Pink spring 2018 initiative in support of Susan G. Komen and the fight against breast cancer.

A news release detailed that as part of their pledge to donate at least $1 million each year in 2017 and 2018, more than 170 participating Simon Malls, The Mills and Premium Outlets nationwide will be participating in various fundraising activities throughout April and May.

“We are thrilled to launch our Spring 2018 More Than Pink initiatives and have been overwhelmed by the ongoing positive support this movement has garnered with our shoppers, retailers and employees to support Susan G. Komen in its tireless efforts to reduce breast cancer deaths,” Enna Allen, Simon vice president of Brand Management, said in the release

The release explained that from April 14 to May 20, visitors to Dallas-area Simon properties will be able to participate in the following programs to help support Susan G. Komen:

— Discount Card Program: In exchange for a $10 donation at Allen Premium Outlets and Grand Prairie Premium Outlets to Susan G. Komen, shoppers will receive a Discount Pass (available at Guest Services at Allen Premium Outlets and the Mall Office at Grand Prairie Premium Outlets) providing 25 percent off one item at kate spade New York, Michael Kors, True Religion and more. All Discount Pass donations will go to Susan G. Komen.

— Susan G. Komen Visa Simon Giftcard: Customers can purchase a More Than Pink Visa gift card at Guest Services or the Mall office and Simon will donate $1 for each sold. The gift card is available for purchase year-round.

— Race for the Cure: Race for The Cure events take place nationwide and local Simon teams will participate to support local Susan G. Komen affiliates. Simon encourages shoppers to join in by registering for the Saturday, April 28, event in Fort Worth or Saturday, October 27, event in Dallas by visiting www.raceforthecure.org/Simon.

The Shops at Clearfork retailers will be giving away special offers on race day Saturday, April 28. Additionally, survivors will receive a free gift after the race when they visit Guest Services.

But there are other local events going on as well!

Kiss for the Cure will take place from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 12, at North East Mall. Dillard’s Cosmetics will be giving lipstick applications and, for a $5 donation to Susan G. Komen, will be demonstrating new products and giving out swag bags. Susan G. Komen representatives will also be on-hand to discuss and distribute information on breast cancer prevention and detection.

Additionally, North East Mall will host a Pancake Breakfast for mall walkers and retailers from 8:30-10 a.m. Thursday, May 17, in the Food Court. Bar Louie will serve pancakes, eggs and bacon, and all mall employees, walkers, law enforcement and city officials are encouraged to attend.

Finally, Paint for the Cure will take place from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at Firewheel Town Center. Local residents are invited to Pinot’s Palette to paint masterpieces with their family and friends. Attendees can also enjoy pink refreshments and door prizes, and $10 from every seat sold will be donated to Susan G. Komen.
