Texas Health Huguley Hospital Fort Worth South is the new name for Huguley Memorial Medical Center in south Fort Worth. The new name reflects the center’s partnership with Texas Health Resources Health System. Last May, Texas Health and Adventist Health System, the parent company of Huguley Memorial Medical Center, formed a joint venture company that owns and manages the hospital. Texas Health owns the controlling interest in the joint venture, and Adventist Health System continues to manage the daily operations of the hospital. “By combining our resources and talents, we have already begun to more effectively meet the health-care needs of those we serve,” said Doug Hawthorne, CEO of Texas Health Resources, commenting in a news release. “Adopting the Texas Health Resources name and logo is a visible sign that we are working together to benefit our communities, physicians, employees, and patients,” Hawthorne said. In the first year of the joint venture, AHS and Texas Health have worked to coordinate patient care, from prevention and wellness to acute hospital care, rehabilitation, home health and hospice care. Texas Health Huguley Hospital has made facility improvements, with more expansion plans under way. “Our new name honors our heritage and signifies the collaboration between two strong healthcare providers to improve coordination of care delivery in southern Tarrant and Johnson Counties,” said Ken Finch, president and CEO of Texas Health Huguley Hospital. Huguley Memorial Medical Center opened in February 1977. Herbert T. Huguley, a Dallas dentist and a real-estate investor, left his $6 million estate to the Seventh-day Adventist Church to build a hospital as a tribute to his parents. Texas Health Resources, one of the largest faith-based, nonprofit health systems in the nation, offers 25 acute care and short-stay hospitals that are owned, operated, joint-ventured or affiliated with Texas Health Resources.
