JPS Health Network opens new oncology and infusion center

JPS Health Network’s new oncology and infusion center, located at 1450 8th Ave., officially opened its door on Thursday, May 2.

The 51,170 square-foot location, formerly occupied by Texas Oncology, was renovated to include almost double the amount of space allowing comprehensive cancer and blood disorder treatments for patients.

“Cancer is one of this most discriminating of diseases for many,” JPS CEO Robert Earley previously said in a 2018 news release. “Too often patients delay seeing a doctor until their disease has progressed to stage 3 or 4. We are committed to increasing access to care for all residents of Tarrant County to fight cancer at the earliest possible time.”

In 2018, JPS handled over 40,400 oncology visits. That number rose by about 20% in the last four years, according to the JPS Health Network.

Dr. Bassam Ghabach, director of the new Oncology and Infusion Center, said 38 percent of cancer patients who come to JPS are already in stage 3

or 4 when they’re diagnosed.

The new center offers physician services, such as, medical and radiation oncology, primary care including a survivorship clinic and acute care,

palliative care, surgery, breast surgery, plastic surgery, neuro and orthopedic oncology, MORS clinic and pain management.

According to Angie Morgan, director of construction services at JPS, the new facility will have 233 parking spaces, as compared to the 87 spaces of the previous building.

On June 2018, the Tarrant County Hospital District Board of Managers and the Tarrant County Commissioners Court approved a 10-year sublease agreement between JPS and UT Southwestern Moncrief Cancer Institute for medical space.
