MedStar is offering a free bleeding control training course at 9-11 a.m. Nov. 4.
The training program was developed by the American College of Surgeons, in cooperation with the National Association of EMTs.
“In the wake of the unimaginable tragedy in Las Vegas, MedStar would like to encourage everyone to learn how to ‘Stop the Bleed,’ ” said Matt Zavadsky, chief strategic integration officer for MedStar.
Topics covered include how to look for and identify life-threatening bleeding and different ways to stop bleeding ranging from applying pressure directly to the wound to proper use of a tourniquet.
