New chief medical officer, chief nursing officer named for Medical City Fort Worth

Medical City Fort Worth has named Terry Loftus as chief medical officer (CMO) and Damita J. Williams as chief nursing officer (CNO), the company announced in a press release.

“Both of these posts are key positions on our hospital’s leadership team, assisting Medical City Fort Worth in continuing its commitment to clinical excellence and quality patient experience,” Medical City Fort Worth CEO Jyric Sims said in the release.

Loftus, the new CMO, is board certified in both general surgery and surgical critical care, is a trained trauma surgeon and is a fellow of the American College of Surgery.

Loftus holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Business from Arizona State University and obtained his medical degree from the University of Arizona. After obtaining his medical degree, he completed a residency in general surgery at the University of Utah, and a trauma surgery and surgical critical care fellowship at the University of Maryland’s R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

Before accepting his new role, Loftus served as president of Loftus Health. He also has experience in various medical leadership positions for Banner Health in Arizona. Additionally, this will not be the first time he takes on the role of CMO, as he served as CMO at Banner Boswell Medical Center.

Williams, the new CNO, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, a Master of Science in Nursing administration, a master’s degree in Advanced Leadership Studies and a doctorate in Organizational Leadership.

She is also certified in Executive Nursing Practice (CENP), having served as a member of the Maternal Child Health Council for the American Hospital Association and the Diversity Council of the American Organization of Nurse Executives.

Her leadership experience will serve her well in her new position as CNO, as Williams will lead the nursing team at Medical City Fort Worth. Though, she’s no rookie either. Like Loftus, Williams has had prior experience in her new role. In fact, Williams has previously held several CNO positions, most recently at the Methodist Hospital campus in San Antonio.
