Pier 1 Imports Inc. (NYSE:PIR) has announced two new philanthropic partnerships with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Wounded Warrior Project. Pier 1 will begin this effort by supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in October and layer on Wounded Warrior Project early next year.
“Pier 1 is committed to partnering with like-minded organizations who are making an impact within their communities,” Kelly Cook, Executive Vice President, Marketing and Chief Marketing Officer at Pier 1, said in a news release.
“We want to ensure that our customers can shop their favorite products with the added benefit of donating to a cause that helps others, whether that be defeating childhood cancer or giving to those who have so bravely served our country,” Cook said.
Pier 1 will join the annual St. Jude Thanks and Giving campaign, a union of celebrities, media, and more than 60 of the nation’s leading brands and companies that ask consumers to donate while they shop during the holiday season to support the lifesaving mission of St. Jude.
Pier 1 will encourage consumers to contribute to the cause through point of sale donations. Funds raised are critical given that no family ever receives a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
Pier 1 will expand its philanthropy program through a partnership with Wounded Warrior Project in early 2019, launching a “Her in Every Hero” campaign that tells the stories of female warriors, family support members and caregivers.
