Newly formed nonprofit organization, Fighting Right, will host its second annual BoobieQue fundraiser at Rahr & Sons Brewing Company from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 29.

Emily McLaughlin of West Magnolia Plastic Surgery is the founder of the nonprofit, which was formed from the $85,000 raised at last year’s BoobieQue event. BoobieQue works to raise funds for distribution between four local non-profit organizations focused on cancer care.

According to a news release, after discovering she had breast cancer in May of last year and undergoing a double mastectomy with reconstruction, McLaughlin had the desire to give back to her community.

She found that as a plastic surgeon in the business of performing breast reconstruction, finding herself on the other side of the table motivated her to reach out and do more.

“I was always an advocate for my patients in their breast cancer journey, imagine my surprise when I was the one taking the journey,” McLaughlin said in the release. “Eyes wide open, there is so much to be done for so many.”

The event will include:

• Games such as bra pong, implant corn hole and boobs & butts

• Live music

• Raffles

• Live and silent auction items

Additionally, Texas Health Resources’ Mobile Mammography Unit will be on-site to offer screenings for qualified women who have confirmed appointments in advance.

Tickets to the event are $75 for adults and $10 for children age 10 and younger. Tickets include barbeque from Heim and a Rahr Brewery Beer or soft drink.
