UNT Health Fort Worth will celebrate a historic milestone as the College of Nursing honors its inaugural traditional prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing graduating class during its first Pinning Ceremony.
Established in 2023 to help address Texas’ critical nursing shortage, the College of Nursing will recognize 29 graduates as they transition from nursing students to professional nurses. Twenty-seven graduates (93%) will graduate with honors, and nearly every graduate has accepted an RN position before graduation, reflecting the college’s commitment to preparing highly accomplished nurses who are ready to enter the workforce. In May, the College of Nursing earned full accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education through June 30, 2031, for its Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing programs.
The inaugural class includes graduates from diverse backgrounds whose stories reflect the many pathways that lead to nursing. Interview opportunities include:
- A nursing student who received two DAISY Award nominations during clinical training — an exceptionally rare achievement for a student nurse.
- Bilingual siblings graduating together who hope to improve access to care for Spanish-speaking patients. And they will continue their journey together, working at the same hospital.
- Graduates from Nepal and Nigeria, military families and other diverse backgrounds who reflect the future of Texas’ healthcare workforce.
