1 person killed when small plane crashes in NW Arkansas

PRAIRIE GROVE, Ark. (AP) — Authorities say one person was killed after a single-engine airplane crashed in northwest Arkansas late Monday.

A preliminary report from the Federal Aviation Administration says the Cessna 150 was destroyed when it crashed near Prairie Grove, about 140 miles (225 kilometers) northwest of Little Rock. The FAA report says the pilot was the only person aboard, and that no one was injured on the ground.

Authorities have not yet released the name of the person killed. According to the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette , the aircraft was registered to Wingnut Enterprises, based in Allen, Texas.
