14-year-old Flower Mound girl dies in go-kart crash

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Police say a North Texas teenager died Sunday when her go-kart crashed near the Texas Motor Speedway.

Fort Worth television stations report the girl is 14-year-old Kierstin Eaddy of Flower Mound.

Eaddy was racing the vehicle outside the speedway at a Sports Car Club of America event when the crash occurred. Police say it’s unclear if she lost control for medical or mechanical reasons.

Witnesses say Eaddy accelerated as she passed the finish line and hit a cable. She was airlifted to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
