Thurmond Prepares to Take FBO to New Heights at Meacham International Airport

Angela Thurmond, assistant general manager of American Aero FTW since early 2018, has been named the new general manager of the fixed-base operator at Meacham International Airport.

Thurmond was listed among the top 20 customer service representatives in the world in 2018.

“Angela is the perfect choice to lead our team as we work continually to enhance safety and services to meet the ever-evolving needs of this industry,” said American Aero FTW founder Robert M. Bass. “It is our mission to redefine the FBO experience, and that means always looking for new ways to meet and exceed the expectations of our private aviation customers.”

Bass said Thurmond played an integral role in two significant achievements.

In 2018, American Aero was ranked the No. 1 FBO in Dallas Fort-Worth and among the top 5 percent of FBOs in the world in the annual Aviation International News (AIN) reader survey. Later that year, American Aero became the first FBO in world to earn International Standard for Business Aircraft Handling (IS-BAH) Stage 3 safety and ground handling certification from the International Business Aviation Council (IBAC).

Thurmond will lead a team of 26 employees.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and management and joined American Aero in June 2017. Since then, she has led American Aero’s customer service team and was named a top CSR in the 2018 AIN FBO survey, before being named assistant general manager last year.
