Lee Graham Reporter Approach Resources Inc. of Fort Worth has hired Craig E.Young as vice president of drilling and completions. “We are very pleased to welcome Craig to our team,” said company president and CEO J. Ross Craft in a news release. “His proven success in leading the development of two major horizontal shale plays will be invaluable as we transform our Wolfcamp oil shale discovery into a full-scale development program,” said Craft, referring to a shale play near Midland. Young has more than 30 years of operating and management experience in the oil and gas industry, primarily in drilling engineering and operations. He spent 10 years with EOG Resources Inc., where he led the company’s development of the Eagle Ford Shale play in South Texas. In that role, Young oversaw drilling, completions and production teams and more than 25 horizontal rigs in the Eagle Ford. Before his Eagle Ford involvement, Young oversaw drilling, completions and production teams for EOG Resources’ Barnett Shale and Barnett Combo plays in North Texas. Young also served more than 14 years with Houston-based Marathon Oil Corp. Approach Resources Inc., an independent oil and gas company with core operations, production and reserves in West Texas’ Permian Basin, operates about 148,000 net acres in that region.
