Betty Harvey new Diversity Recruiting Manager for North Texas LEAD

Out of nearly 100 professionals who applied for the position, Betty Harvey has been selected Diversity Recruiting Program Manager for North Texas LEAD, a news release said. Harvey has experience as a workplace development and communications professional and consultant.

North Texas LEAD’s mission is to attract and connect top talent to organizations that drive diversity and inclusion. In her new role, Harvey will work to expand the talent pool and identify employers and community partners with similar interests to the organization.

“Nearly 100 HR professionals applied for the position,” President and Executive Director Gyna M. Bivens said in the release. “Betty’s workforce experience, business savvy and passion for working with veterans and military initiatives will enhance our job searches and bring greater depth to the services North Texas LEAD provides.”

Before her new position, Harvey served as director of Workforce Development & Military/Veteran Affairs with the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce. While serving at the Chamber, Harvey brought together individuals, nonprofits and businesses to collaborate in the workforce landscape for military and civilians.

She also has experience in communications and marketing consulting positions with both Fort Worth Texas magazine and the Fort Worth Business Press. Additionally, Harvey has more than 20 years of education experience, having served as director of Marketing and Admissions, history chair, Upper School marketing and AP government teacher while working with All Saints’ Episcopal School.

“I’m thrilled to start this journey. My Chamber work with businesses and Workforce Solutions and my communications background seem to be a perfect mix for this responsibility,” Harvey said. “There are not many better feelings than finding a good fit for an employee and employer.”

Outside of her professional work, Harvey is active in her community as a member of the Rotary Club of Fort Worth, the Advisory Board of Fort Worth Safe Communities and the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Community Advisory Council, in addition to serving as chair of the Veteran, Military & USS Fort Worth Committee.

Harvey graduated from Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts. She and her husband, Fred, live in Fort Worth and have three adult children — Colin Harvey, Dr. Alison Harvey and Garrett Harvey.
