The Fort Worth Business Press is proud to honor the most successful public and private companies in Tarrant County in our Top 100 edition. In this, our ninth annual Top 100 edition and event, we honor our Top CEOs of both public and private companies. Top CEO Awards have been given to individuals who have exhibited leadership, innovation and creativity in their industry.

This year’s top CEOs – Crescent Real Estate’s John Goff and Cash America’s Dan Feehan – certainly exemplify those qualities. Each is a legend in his own industry and in the Fort Worth community. Both men have demonstrated strong leadership in their companies and have guided their companies through some of the most trying times in recent history. In addition to honoring Top CEOs, the Business Press’ Strategic Management Award, given to Justin Brands’ Randy Watson, is presented to a company’s manager who has demonstrated management skills that resulted in the company achieving strong results that either exceeded industry norms or made in a significant change in company direction.

You will find the Top 100 Private Companies listed in order according to 2012 revenues starting within these pages. You also will find a separate alphabetical list on the next page. We also have profiled selected companies that have an interesting story to tell or that have a made a unique impact on the local business community. On behalf of all the Business Press employees and the North Texas business community, we congratulate all the winners of our Top 100 edition.

Privately held companies are key components in the economic engine that drives business in a community. In fact, most economists believe that our economic recovery will primarily originate with small, mostly privately held, businesses. Our goal is to recognize these local businesses that are such a vital part of our economy, locally and nationally. Gathering the information for this special issue, as for those in the past, required a great deal of persistence. Some companies choose not to reply to our questionnaires, but many companies have come to trust the Business Press with their information and for that we are thankful. Thanks to all the companies in Tarrant County that help drive the local economy and provide community and public service along the way. To all our readers, advertisers and the business community, we appreciate all you do for us and the community.
