FW Hispanic chamber names Hernandez new leader

John Hernandez, a former banking executive and small business owner, is the new president and chief executive officer of the Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Hernandez took over the position July 6, succeeding Asusena Resendiz who resigned at the end of May.

Hernandez has served on the chamber’s board of directors twice and was a small business owner for seven years.

Hernandez started working in his father’s upholstery business in San Antonio at the age of 14. He is a graduate of Midwestern State University, where he was selected to participate in an international internship to study at Tec de Monterey in Chihuahua, Mexico. He went on to receive his MBA from Southern Methodist University.

Hernandez was hired by Bank of America’s Private Bank in 2003 to serve markets in North Dallas, Highland Park and Fort Worth. In 2006, he transitioned to Fort Worth where he eventually joined J.P. Morgan as a vice president in the wealth management group.
