Wes Jurey, president and CEO of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce for the past 14 years, announced his retirement from the chamber on Aug. 11.
“It is with mixed emotions I announce my retirement as president and CEO of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce, effective August 15,” he said in a statement. “My wife Bertha and I have been proud to call Arlington home, and we have truly enjoyed our association with the Chamber and the community during my 14 year tenure.”
Among the accomplishments during his tenure, Jurey noted the first 10-year strategic plan, the bridge construction on Interstate 30, the University of Texas at Arlington’s push to become a Tier 1 research university and partnerships with the city, the school district, the university, Tarrant County College and other area entities.
“In view of our success, I want to thank the members of the Chamber, who have committed their time, talent, treasure, and influence toward the achievement of these goals, in fulfillment of our mission to build a sustainable community,” he said.
Kelly Curnutt, an Arlington attorney with Curnutt and Hafer law firm, is now interim president and CEO.
