That night at Ol’ Miss was the most terrifying night of my life and that includes Vietnam. – Bob Schieffer, speaking at the Multicultural Alliance’s Annual Awards dinner on May 1 which honored Schieffer and his siblings, Sharon Schieffer Mayes and Tom Schieffer, and their mother, Gladys Payne Schieffer. Bob Schieffer was discussing encounters with prejudice in his life and he recounted covering the integration of the University of Mississippi in 1962.
