CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — San Angelo Standard-Times editor Tim Archuleta has been appointed editor of the Corpus Christi Caller-Times.
E.W. Scripps Co., which owns both newspapers, announced the move on Tuesday. Archuleta has been the top editor at the Standard-Times since 2003 and oversaw its digital expansion. The Texas Associated Press Managing Editors also named the Standard-Times Newspaper of the Year in 2008.
Archuleta succeeds Shane Fitzgerald, who resigned as Caller-Times editor in June. The 50-year-old executive will assume his duties Oct. 21. Until then, Caller-Times Opinion Editor Tom Whitehurst Jr. will continue as interim editor.
Meanwhile, Standard-Times metro editor Mike Kelley serves as San Angelo’s interim editor until Archuleta’s successor is named.
E.W. Scripps owns 14 U.S. dailies. Its four Texas dailies include the Abilene Reporter-News and Wichita Falls Times Record News.
