WHAT: Tarrant Area Food Bank’s (TAFB’s) signature fundraising event, the 23rd Annual Empty Bowlspresented by GM Financial and Albertsons/Tom Thumb, is back and sold out! This event brings together local artisans and the restaurant community to support families facing hunger. Guests will enjoy tastings from dozens of local chefs and take home a hand-crafted bowl—symbolizing the many empty bowls we are working to fill together. The overwhelming support for this year’s event, especially in the wake of recent federal reductions, has been remarkable. WHY: Event proceeds benefit TAFB’s Ready to Learn™ initiative, which serves children in need by establishing in-school markets that provide students and their families with healthy groceries to take home, along with nutrition education in partnership with local schools across TAFB’s 13-county service area. Many of these on-campus markets operate year-round at the discretion of the school, which is especially vital during summer when access to school meals is interrupted. As summer approaches, the need for food access increases significantly. Funds raised through Empty Bowls will help ensure local children have consistent access to nutritious food—the most essential school supply.
The 2025 Empty Bowls event comes at a critical time, as TAFB faces a significant shortfall due to federal reductions. These reductions have strained resources across the Food Bank network, just as summer hunger peaks. Despite these challenges, TAFB remains committed to providing the same level of emergency food assistance for children, families, and seniors facing hunger. The community’s amazing support through events like Empty Bowls is essential to ensuring TAFB can meet the rising need across its 13-county service area.
