Novartis is preparing this month to begin construction on a $34.7 million global data center at the South Fort Worth campus of its Alcon unit.

The data center will be along Alta Mesa Boulevard on the southern end of the campus off of the South Freeway.

Groundbreaking will occur this month, Elizabeth Harness Murphy, an Alcon spokeswoman said.

Construction will be complete in fall 2015. Alcon in January obtained an incentive package from the city of Fort Worth for the center, which will include an estimated $30 million in real property investment and $4.7 million in business personal property investment, according to city documents.

Novartis conducted a study in 2012 to determine where to locate global data centers and, in 2013, the company chose Fort With as the site for its Americas global data center. Â
