American Motorcycle Trading to open new headquarters in Bedford

3201 Airport Freeway

American Motorcycle Trading Co. has acquired the former Star-Telegram Plaza from a Delaware-based corporation, ending an 11-month search for a new headquarters and showroom location in Dallas/Fort Worth.

The 37,796-square foot office-and-retail building at 3201 Airport Freeway in Bedford has been vacant at least one year.

“It will be great to see that property come back on line after sitting vacant for so long. It’s an attractive building,” said Renee Efimoff, senior vice president of Coldwell Banker Commercial Advisors DFW, who represented the buyer of record, B&B Family Partnership.

American Motorcycle Trading was in the market for a new headquarters and showroom property after selling its longtime location at 2925 E. Division St. in Arlington last year. The dealership has remained fully operational during the search. The new site is expected to be up and running in the summer. The company has a second location in Mansfield.

The two-story office building, built in 1986, is situated on nearly 3.4 acres with 349 feet of frontage along the recently widened State Highway 183 and just east of its intersection with State Highway 121. American Motorcycle has claimed a highly visible property, with traffic counts of 127,131 vehicles per day on TX 183/Airport Freeway and 123,610 on TX 121. The three-mile trade area has a population of 110,835 and an average annual household income of $76,774.

Equally important to the buyer is the property’s proximity to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. Through its online sales, the dealership often has out-of-state customers who fly in to pick up their purchases and do road trips home. American Motorcycle Trading is one of Texas’ largest full-service dealerships of pre-owned motorcycles, including Harley Davidson, metrics, trikes, cruisers and sportbikes.

“They looked at the building and location and liked it immediately,” Efimoff said.

A major renovation is in the works for the newly acquired structure, which has 29,142 square feet on the first floor and 8,654 square feet on the second floor. The property will be re-platted for a new ingress and egress as a result of the road-widening project. Greg Hoffman of Colliers International represented the seller, Aberfeldy Properties Inc.
