Apartment plan for Pier 1 site to go before design board

There could be an apartment building on the site of the Pier 1 Imports building on the west side of downtown.

The owner of the 20-story, Class A office building, Houston-based Hines, is scheduled to make a presentation before Fort Worth’s Downtown Design Review board on Wednesday and present a concept plan for an apartment complex. The Pier 1 building sits on nearly 30 acres, but the three-acre portion that may be used for the apartment sits on the southeast side of the location.

Marketing the property for Houston-based Hines is Transwestern, but the property has not been sold yet.

Hines bought the land and property in August 2014 from Chesapeake Energy and changed the name to Pier 1 Imports Building, after the main tenant and original owner of the building. – This story contains information from the FWB archives.
