Construction has begun on a new mixed-use apartment community in Fort Worth’s Near Southside at 315 W. Magnolia Ave.
Hudgins Companies says new community will be called Mag & May and will offer 231 luxury apartment homes, as well as 8,500 square feet of retail space.
“We are a family owned and operated real estate company with deep, local roots in Fort Worth and the Near Southside,” said Donald L. “Bud” Hudgins, Jr., owner and founder of Hudgins Companies. “We have owned property in the Southside, including the Rahr Brewery location, for many years and it is a great honor for us to develop a project in a neighborhood we take great pride in. Every detail of how this community is being designed is important to us. The exterior design will complement the architecture and vibe of the neighborhood and the interior spaces have been designed with Near Southside residents in mind specifically.”
The development will be across from the Moncrief Cancer Institute and close to Fixture and Spice restaurants and the Proper bar.
Mag & May will be professionally managed by Greystar. The project will offer a variety of one- and two-bedroom residences ranging in size from 465 square foot micro-units to 1,189 square foot penthouses with views of downtown Fort Worth. Upgraded interior finishes will include stainless steel appliances, under cabinet lighting, tiled stand up showers and large garden tubs, 3cm quartz countertops and wood-style plank floors in living areas. Apartment homes include mud rooms in entry ways and an included technology package that allows residents the ability to control light fixtures, door locks, thermostats and entry gates from an app on their phone.
The project includes a second floor club house surrounded by floor to ceiling windows that connects to and creates a seamless indoor/outdoor space with the swimming pool via a large sliding wall. The pool area looks out a floor above Magnolia Avenue with a glass wall and bar top. Flat-screen TV’s and an outdoor lounge finish off the pool area and are flanked by a fitness center with on-demand exercise classes, a fully enclosed yoga lounge, and a cycle studio. Other amenities will include on-site garage parking, an interior courtyard with grilling stations, seating areas, and outdoor art walls. Ground floor retail fronts Magnolia Avenue with an expansive covered patio, bike storage and excellent pedestrian access to the myriad restaurants, bars, and specialty retail that defines Magnolia Village.

Construction on Mag & May is expected to be finished in spring 2019.
