Ebby Halliday Real Estate Inc., including Fort Worth’s Williams Trew Real Estate, announced Monday, it intends to be acquired by HomeServices of America Inc., a Berkshire Hathaway affiliate.
The acquisition will include Ebby’s three real estate brands: Dallas-based Ebby Halliday Realtors and Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate and Williams Trew, as well as the firm’s affiliated mortgage and title companies. The Ebby Halliday portfolio of companies brands will continue to operate under their current brand names. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Ebby Halliday participated in more than 18,800 transactions in 2017, with a sales volume of more than $8 billion, ranks 12th in the nation in sales volume. Ebby Halliday has been in operation since 1945, founded by its namesake Ebby Halliday who went from selling hats in a downtown Dallas department store to selling houses.
Williams Trew, founded in 2000 by Martha Williams, Joan Trew and Marshall Boyd, was acquired by Ebby Halliday in 2014.
“At yesterday’s companywide meeting of the Ebby Halliday Companies, executives announced the intent to be acquired by HomeServices of America, Inc., a Berkshire Hathaway affiliate,” said Elizabeth McCoy, Market Area Sales Manager for Williams Trew, in a statement.
“Williams Trew will now be backed by one of the largest real estate companies in America and will benefit from leading-edge technology and innovation for many years to come.
This move enables Williams Trew to maintain not only our name, but our legacy. And it protects our future as we strive for new heights in the real estate market. This is a very exciting time for Williams Trew and the Ebby Halliday Family of Companies,” she said.
In 2015, HomeServices of America Inc. acquired Allie Beth Allman & Associates of Dallas.
