Cinemark Holdings, Inc. of Plano announced plans to construct a new 14-screen movie theater in Roanoke, part of the Gateway project in that city. Featuring the company’s NextGen design concept, the facility is scheduled to open in spring of 2015 at the junction of Highway 114 and Highway 170. The new cinema will have screens covering the entire wall, both top to bottom and left to right; RealD 3D capability; enhanced sound systems; self-serve concession stands; a Cinemark XD: Extreme Digital Cinema auditorium; and not to mention “print at home” ticketing. “We are excited to introduce our new Cinemark NextGen movie theater experience to the Roanoke community,” said Tim Warner, CEO of Cinemark in a news release. “We are confident that our state-of-the-art facility will be a welcome addition to this growing area of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.” This project will “anchor the Roanoke Gateway project,” stated Donald L. Silverman, the Roanoke Gateway project manager. “As the retail complex’s main attraction, Cinemark’s NextGen Cinema will be the entertainment destination choice for the northeast Tarrant 114 corridor and the rapidly growing areas in south Denton County.” Also coming to the Roanoke Gateway development will be a Cotton Patch Café. Roanoke Gateway is being developed by Margaux Development of Dallas.
