A division of Colonial Savings F.A., Colonial National Mortgage will be holding a free seminar on July 27 and July 29 aimed at assisting first-time homebuyers.
“Colonial has been committed to helping our customers achieve their dream of owning a home for more than 65 years,” said the VP of Retail Mortgage Production, Joe Chapman, in a news release. “We understand that buying a home can seem intimidating, especially for first-time buyers. We are very excited to provide this free seminar to anyone who is interested in learning more about the home buying process so they can gain a little piece of mind about obtaining mortgage financing.”
Participants at the seminars will be provided with refreshments and will learn about many different aspects of buying a home. The news release says that the topics covered will include:
What to expect from your real estate agent
Homeowners insurance
Expectations for closing costs
Loan programs that assist first-time buyers
How to secure mortgage financing
Savings tips
Property taxes
Eligibility for Colonial’s HomeReady loan program which is an assistance grant of $5,000 for closing costs or down payment with a $750 closing cost credit

The seminars will be on Thursday, July 27 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, July 29 from 10 a.m. to noon and will take place at 2570 West Freeway, Fort Worth, TX 76102. Attendees will also get to learn about all of Colonial’s home loan products which include conventional, condo, construction, VA, FHA and USDA loans.
