Construction to resume at Argyle campus after 2 deaths

ARGYLE, Texas (AP) — A North Texas school district has hired a safety consultant as work resumes following two construction deaths on campus.

The action by the Argyle Independent School District board cleared the way for construction to resume Tuesday on an activity center for Argyle High School, about 20 miles north of Fort Worth.

School board members Monday night reviewed proposals for updated safety guidelines following the deaths earlier this month.

The steel framework for the facility collapsed April 2, killing one man. A worker helping to clear the debris died April 7 after being run over by a truck.

Trustees approved limited construction based on coordination with the safety consultant, Archer Western. The general contractor, Northstar Builders Group, cooperated with the investigation and voluntarily suspended work following the accidents.
