El Fenix Mexican Restaurant kicked-off construction for its newest location in Weatherford. The official groundbreaking ceremony on October 8, included Weatherford Mayor Dennis Hooks; Tammy Gazzola, President of the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce; and Mike Karns, President, El Fenix Corporation; Steve Chambers, Director of Field Operations, El Fenix; and Brandon Whitten, General Manager, Weatherford El Fenix. The group turned the dirt with oversized forks in lieu of traditional shovels.
The 5,944 square feet location at 315 Adams Drive will seat 242 diners. The Weatherford location is scheduled to open in spring 2015. Acquired by Firebird Restaurant Group in 2008, El Fenix was refurbished at the time. Â
