Flower Mound may get first hotel

Flower Mound may get its first hotel at the town’s The River Walk project.

Flower Mound officials approved a Chapter 380 Agreement on Oct. 20 that calls for a five-store, 140-room upscale hotel with 6,000 square-feet of meeting space. It will also feature a restaurant and bar, pool, exercise room, balconies and outdoor seating area, and multiple fire pits. With a projected opening date in the first quarter of 2016, the hotel will be part of Rainier Medical River Walk development.

“We have a significant investment in this community and believe Flower Mound is the perfect place for additional commercial development,” said Tim Lavender, president of Rainier Medical. “We’re looking forward to branching out into the hospitality industry with the assistance of DePalma Hotels & Resorts, and bringing a top-quality hotel to Flower Mound.”

Earlier this year, Rainier retained Arlington-based DePalma Hotels & Resorts’ team to serve as the management company for the hotel. Scott Tarwater, executive vice president of DePalma Hotels & Resorts and a Flower Mound resident, has deep family roots in the area. Designing the project is Dallas-based architectural firm Leo A Daly.
