Fort Worth’s Tower is on the market

🕐 1 min read

The commercial part of one of downtown Fort Worth’s most storied buildings is on the market.

Once the tallest skyscraper in downtown, the notoriety of the building formerly known as the Bank One Tower soared when about 80 percent of its 3,000 windows were broken by an F3 tornado on March 28, 2000.

In the aftermath, the 35-story building that opened in 1974 was shuttered and redeveloped as The Tower, a mixed-used development of condos, retail and office space.

The office/retail areas contained in the building’s “podium” as well as the parking garage are up for sale.

“I don’t imagine we’ll see much change when it sells, except for the tenant mix,” said Andy Taft, president of Downtown Fort Worth, Inc.

The real estate firm HFF is marketing the property of 1818,180 square feet of office and retail space.

The condo residences are not for sale.

The Tower development spans 2.5 city blocks located at 500 Throckmorton St. and 400 and 500 Taylor St.

“The iconic property is located adjacent to downtown Fort Worth’s Sundance Square, one of the nation’s most vibrant 24-hour office, retail and entertainment districts,” according to HFF.

The property for sale includes 180,024 square feet of Class B office and retail space beneath the condo tower.
