Fort Worth water and sewer users, as expected, will see rates increase next year under the proposed city budget due out next week.
The proposed water budget is $243 million, up 3.4 percent, driven primarily by raw water costs, Kara Shuror, the water department’s assistant director for business services, told Mayor Betsy Price and City Council members Tuesday.
The proposed sewer budget is $158 million, up from $150 million, driven by several factors, Shuror said.
The staff will disclose the amount of projected water and sewer rate increases next week, in the unveiling of the proposed city budget.
Staff members declined to say what the proposed rate increases will be.
City Council members have struggled in recent years’ budget talks over water and sewer increases, but have forecast continued increases.
