Patsy Smith, a member of the Greater Fort Worth Builders Association (GFWBA) for 57 years, was inducted into the Texas Housing Hall of Honor Nov. 15 at a ceremony in Austin. Patsy’s late husband, Herman Smith, was inducted to the Texas Housing Hall of Honor in 2008. They are the first husband and wife to receive the honor.
The Texas Housing Hall of Honor, which is presented annually by the Texas Association of Builders (TAB), celebrates men and women who have made significant and lasting contributions to the Texas housing industry. Inductees are selected annually from the categories of: builders, developers or remodelers; trades professionals and suppliers; government; and industry-allied professionals.
As a longstanding member of GFWBA, TAB and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), Smith remains involved at the local, state and national levels. Smith currently represents Texas home builders as a senior life director at the NAHB.
Smith continues to work daily at the Herman Smith Company, the real estate and development business started by her late husband. She credits the success of the Herman Smith Company in part to the valuable relationships that have been built and the knowledge gained through her involvement in the industry organizations. Smith is also an active community member who supports many charitable organizations.
