Fort Worth’s eclectic Near Southside neighborhood is the choice for North Texas’ first Gus’s Fried Chicken restaurant.
The Memphis, Tenn.-based company plans a 3,720-square-foot eatery in spring 2016 at 1067 W. Magnolia Ave. This location will be the second in Texas; Gus’s opened in Austin in early 2014.
“We chose to open in Fort Worth on Magnolia because the area has grown a lot in recent years, but isn’t overdeveloped,” said Daniel Bryant, franchisor of Gus’s. “It’s a great fit for Gus’s because we like to think of ourselves as the ‘un-chain.’ It will always just be about the chicken.”
Gus’s signature spicy chicken recipe is made to order, and the menu also features potato salad, coleslaw and homemade pies. Bryant and his team expect to keep the restaurant open later on weekend evenings in accordance with the neighborhood’s nightlife.
The new restaurant will seat 100 patrons and bring about 30 jobs to the local economy. Gus’s will begin hiring in early 2016.
Will Northern of Northern Realty Group brokered the recent purchase of the building where Gus’s will be located as well as the lease transaction.
