H.E.B. acquires six Sun Fresh stores in North Texas

The owners of Central Market, San Antonio-based H.E.B. have been playing a key role in the North Texas grocery market for some time and has hinted at becoming more involved by acquiring real estate in the area. But Monday night the company confirmed it is acquiring six Sun Fresh Market stores in the area, including one location in Grapevine.

Four of the six sites are former Albertson’s locations in the Uptown, Lake Highlands, Lakewood and Northeast neighborhoods in Dallas. Two additional stares are located in McKinney and Grapevine. H.E.B. officials have not indicated what store format they will use in the six locations. 

Central Market has five locations in North Texas and H-E-B grocery has several on the outskirts of Dallas and Fort Worth, including a location in Burleson and Cleburne. It is building a new grocery in Mansfield. The company also offers grocery delivery services in the area.
