Ridgmar Mall

Ridgmar Mall is getting a multi-million dollar makeover along with a new high-end tenant, fashion clothing retailer H&M.

The mall is getting a remodeled cinema and an interior makeover that will change the look and feel of the mall, according to GK Development Inc., the Barrington, Illinois-based owner of the regional shopping center.

The mall makeover is expected to begin in a few months. At the same time, Rave Ridgmar13 + Xtreme will see some changes as owner Cinemark Inc. begins a remodel of the multiplex theater.

“It’s an exciting time for Ridgmar Mall. Cinemark’s remodeling and the mall’s revitalization plan represent a multi-million dollar investment by key investors in the continued success of Ridgmar Mall,” said Garo Kholamian, president of GK Development, in a news release.

“When we acquired Ridgmar Mall in 2013, we recognized the upside opportunity to refresh the shopping center. Now we’re forging ahead with a plan to revitalize one of Fort Worth’s premier shopping destinations with the ultimate goal of enhancing the shopper experience and ensuring our competitive position,” he said.

The mall’s revitalization plan calls for new sightlines, new color schemes and new decorative lighting. The makeover will allow natural light from existing skylights to be more diffused, opening up the corridors and courtyards, according to a news release.

The transformation will begin near the children’s play area, between the food court and Macy’s, and the courtyard between the food court and Sears, on the upper and lower levels.

All stores will remain open during the remodel.

Cinemark Theaters, Inc.’s renovation of the Rave Ridgmar 13 + Xtreme will include updated auditoriums, complete with Cinemark Luxury Lounger recliners. Other amenities include updated finishes inside the auditoriums, enhanced concession options and reserved seating. The work is expected to be completed mid-summer.

Meanwhile, fashion retailer H & M plans to open a 21,000 square foot location at Ridgmar Mall in this fall. The Ridgmar store will be located on the second floor of the mall across from Macy’s. The store will feature clothing for the whole family, including the company’s children’s collection. H&M recently announced new locations in Sundance Square and at Denton’s Golden Triangle Mall. Both of those locations are scheduled to open in the fall. Based in Sweden, H&M, officially Hennes & Mauritz AB, is known for its reasonably-priced fashion-forward clothing.
