Oldham Goodwin Group LLC announced Dec. 29 it has broken ground on a SpringHill Suites by Marriott located at 2315 North Main St. in the Stockyards on the site of what was known as “The Wedge” building.

Construction of the 6-story, 170 room, all-suite hotel is being overseen by Oldham Goodwin Development. Construction is expected to take 17 months with an opening date in the summer of 2019.

The 133,000 square-foot hotel is positioned to attract business and leisure travelers who desire the higher level of amenities and services of an all-suite hotel, according to an Oldham Goodwin news release.

The hotel will have over 9,600 square feet of indoor and outdoor pre-function space, an event courtyard, business center, conference and banquet space, fitness center, and outdoor pool. The hotel’s top level will feature presidential suites and a rooftop bar overlooking downtown Fort Worth and the Panther Island project.

The property was designed by Atlanta-based Niles Bolton Associates. Studio 11 Design, a Dallas boutique design firm, will handle interior design. The architectural design as well as customizations in the lobby and common areas will complement the historic character of the Stockyards, according to the news release. Arch-Con Corp. has been selected as the general contractor.

Bryan-based Oldham Goodwin is a commercial real estate brokerage, development and management firm. They purchased the property in 2015.
