Villas at Boston Heights first Benbrook affordable housing project designed to LEED Gold Standards
Dallas-based KWA Construction, known for their multifamily developments, has completed construction on Villas at Boston Heights — what it says is the first-and-only affordable housing project designed to LEED Gold standards in the Fort Worth suburb of Benbrook, a news release said.
The Villas at Boston Heights are located at 3510 Boston Ave., less than five miles from Benbrook Lake and only eight miles from downtown Fort Worth.
“KWA strives to be an industry leader in helping to provide environmentally-sound projects that offer both green and economic benefits for renters,” KWA President Brian Webster said in the release. “We used our expertise with eco-friendly building materials to help OM Housing introduce another LEED Certified project to Dallas-Fort Worth.”
KWA partnered with Dallas-based developer OM Housing LLC and BGO Architects for the 165,000-square-foot, 144-unit garden-style complex.
According to the release, Villas at Boston Heights incorporates several eco-friendly features, including low-emitting VOC building materials, enhanced insulation and energy-efficient windows.
Additionally, to take it one environmentally green step further, the one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments are furnished with ENERGY STAR® appliances, high-efficiency lighting and water-saving fixtures that can lower utility bills by approximately $40 per month.
The mixed-rate community includes eight two- and three-story residential buildings with 130 units at 30 percent, 50 percent and 60 percent area median income (AMI) rents and 14 market rate units, the release detailed.
Tenants have access to a community center, swimming pool with a splash pad, barbeque grills and a picnic area, fitness center, controlled access gates and an onsite laundry facility.
