Arlington-based Q Hotels today announced it will develop and operate a dual-branded Marriott hotel in south Arlington at 3800 S. Collins Road, just off Interstate 20 near the President George Bush Turnpike.

Construction will begin in December 2016 with a projected completion in the summer of 2018. The Marriott hotels will combine SpringHill Suites and TownePlace Suites brands.

“Q Hotels is pleased to bring compelling, new lodging options to south Arlington and to deliver a unique offering of full service hotel amenities at select service price points,” said Q Hotels Chairman Jags Patel. “By combining two brands into one efficient building, this all-suite property will be able to offer exceptional amenities of approximately 18,000 square feet of meeting and event space, a resort style pool with cabanas, free breakfast, a business center, a lobby bar, banquet services, room service and more.”

Marriott’s all-suites brands will be combined in one building with 230 total units in the project. SpringHill Suites will include 130 suites for traditional hotel guests who typically stay one-to-two nights with a contemporary design, dedicated workspaces and in-room microwaves and fridges. TownePlace Suites will offer 100 suites designed for extended stay guests with a residential feel featuring full kitchens and in-room workstations.

By combining the dual brands Q Hotels said it can attract both business and leisure market segments.

“This is exciting news for Arlington. We have long needed to add full service hotel rooms to our city, in particular the southeast portion of Arlington, to further enhance the tourism experience in Arlington, which is truly the sports and entertainment capital of the state,” said Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams. “With Q Hotels, not only are we getting a new hotel from a prominent local developer, but we are also getting an upscale facility. This is another example of the dynamic economic development happening in the American Dream City.”
