McKinney partners to open incubator/accelerator center

The city of McKinney will hold the grand opening ceremonies for a new startup incubator and accelerator center on Tuesday.

The Collide Center is a new start-up incubator and accelerator center created by Curious Complex and the McKinney Economic Development Corporation (MEDC). The Collide Center will provide work space, resources and training for tech startups in their initial stages so that they can grow and eventually move into their own office space, creating quality jobs in our community.

Open for less than one month, the Collide Center has 13 startup businesses working out of its shared work space. Curious Complex, an online market place for the obsessed, is the anchor tenant of the Collide Center. The Collide Center’s opening will be at the Cotton Mill, 610 Elm St #110, on Tuesday, July 23, at 5:30 p.m.

“MEDC created the Emerging Technology Program in 2009 with the intent of assisting start-up companies that will grow and provide jobs in McKinney. The Collide Center is a natural progression for this program with the goal of expanding the high tech industry in McKinney,” said Jim Wehmeier, MEDC president and CEO.

The Collide Center is open to companies working on innovative products and emerging technologies. www.mckinneyedc.com
