Long anticipated by Fort Worth area cyclists, Mellow Johnny’s Bike Shop is set for a grand opening on Saturday, Oct. 3 at The Trailhead at Clearfork.
The 13,000-square-foot location at 4801 Edwards Ranch Road is directly adjacent to the Trinity Trails hike-and-bike system. The original Austin location was founded in 2008 and has become a destination for cyclists – professional and amateur.
The Fort Worth Mellow Johnny’s will include a showroom of road, mountain, hybrid and kids bikes, professional service, accessories, and repair; plus cycling, fitness, and apparel.
Mellow Johnny’s, which was founded in 2008 in Austin, will offer bicycle sales, service, rentals, training, rides, and clinics.
“The Trailhead vision is a perfect fit for Mellow Johnny’s,” said Will Black, general manager. “The development is a vibrant gathering place for fitness and life, and that is exactly what Mellow Johnny’s aspires to be.”
In the coming months, additional elements will be added to the including Pedal Hard, an indoor Training Center, led by former professional cyclist Kevin Livingston, as well as Press Café, a full-service, trailside restaurant with a rooftop bar. Press Café should open later this fall, officials said.
Press Café will have a “from-scratch” concept for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu will include breakfast burritos, morning pastries, fresh pressed juices and Avoca Coffee during breakfast hours. Sandwiches, contemporary salads and seasonal entree selections will be on the lunch and dinner menu. The trailside cafe and rooftop bar will offer a selection wine, beer and a full-bar. Press Café will be led by local Chef Felipe Armenta, who also operates The Tavern on Hulen and Pacific Table.
The Mellow Johnny’s grand opening on Saturday will begin with at 7:30 a.m. with several group bike rides that will be leaving from The Trailhead, along with a social run from Luke’s Locker, plus a ribbon cutting, various local food and beverage options, and family-friendly activities.
Mellow Johnny’s will begin in Fort Worth as a Specialized Elite dealer, and carry brands including Moots, Poc, Shimano, Castelli, Oakley, and more.
Regular hours are Monday-Friday 10-7, Saturday 8-6, and Sunday 8-4.
