Neiman Marcus rumor discounted

The developer behind a planned retail, office and residential project between the Trinity River and Montgomery Plaza described Neiman Marcus as a welcome addition to the mix but added that no deal has been confirmed. “I have no deal or no commitment from Neiman Marcus, but what a great site to be,” said West Miller, principal with Centergy Retail LLC of Dallas, which purchased the property in February from Chesapeake Land Development Co. LLC, the real-estate development division of Chesapeake Energy Corp. A media outlet this week reported that the Neiman Marcus department store at Ridgmar Mall in west Fort Worth is considering whether to relocate to the West Seventh Street development. But Miller – and a spokeswoman with the Dallas-based retailer – said no deal has been done. “It’s definitely a rumor,” said Neiman Marcus spokeswoman Ginger Reeder. Still, she said the company routinely considers locations for new stores. “It’s business practice to always look at projects not only in prospective markets, but also in current markets. It’s good to know what’s going on,” Reeder said. Interest from prospective tenants has skyrocketed since the West Seventh Street development was announced, Miller said. “We have had very strong demand from retail, grocery and multifamily,” Miller said. The approximately 30-acre property stretches from West Seventh Street on the south to Kansas Street on the north and from the railroad tracks on the west to the river on the east.
