New rehabilitation hospital bringing 120 jobs to Weatherford

Construction will begin soon on the first free-standing inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Weatherford. The 27,000-square-foot Weatherford Rehabilitation Hospital is expected to open in first quarter 2015. The hospital will add 26 beds to the network of inpatient rehabilitation facilities throughout Texas and Louisiana owned and operated by Maxim Management Group of Texas.

The new facility is located on the former site of the Parker County American Legion at 703 Eureka St., less than half a mile from the Weatherford Regional Medical Center and 29 miles from Fort Worth. “Patients had to travel to Fort Worth for this type of care in the past so there was a great need for a local facility like this, especially with the growing population of seniors,” said Mark J. Harris, chief executive officer of Maxim Management Group. Patients will receive comprehensive medical rehabilitation services, including physical, occupational, respiratory and speech therapy. Patients also will receive care for strokes, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries and amputations.

Architects for the project are Corgan, contractors are Imperial Construction and Green Bank financed the project.

Plans include private rooms, a dining area, a large therapy gym and 24-hour nursing care. The Joint Commission-accredited hospital will have 120 people on staff led by a physiatrist. Interviews for positions will begin this summer. A groundbreaking ceremony for the new hospital will take place May 29 at 10 a.m. Betty Dillard bdillard@bizpress.net
