New senior living community to be developed in Southwest Fort Worth

Methodist Retirement Communities, a not-for-profit senior living organization based in The Woodlands, has announced development plans for a new senior living community in Fort Worth.

The 19-acre site is just off Chisholm Trail Parkway in the new Tavolo Park master-planned community, which will feature new homes, parks, restaurants, offices and retail shops. Groundbreaking is scheduled to take place by late 2019, with a grand opening slated for 2021.

Plans currently include 159 independent living apartment homes, as well as 36 assisted living apartments, 24 memory support suites, 24 rehab suites and 16 skilled nursing suites.

According to a news release, Stevenson Oaks has been selected as the name for the senior living community to pay homage to both William Stevenson, a Methodist pioneer in Texas, and the Chinkapin Oak, a regional tree known for its strength and considered to symbolize wisdom and spiritual wholeness.

“We’re proud to bring this incredible new lifestyle option to seniors in the Fort Worth area that not only celebrates their social energy, but also their intellectual spirit, all in a refined and engaging atmosphere that furthers our mission of service ministry to older adults,” said Ron Jennette, president and CEO of MRC, in the release. “This new community represents our commitment to providing the best services, programs, activities, care and living options for Fort Worth seniors.”

The number of Fort Worth residents over the age of 65 is expected to grow substantially over the next 10 years with the aging of Baby Boomers. This project will provide additional housing and wellness services for the population, as well as provide quality jobs.

The Stevenson Oaks campus will feature multiple dining options, a fitness center, auditorium, outdoor living areas, green spaces and scenic walking paths.

Residents will also enjoy maintenance, housekeeping and transportation services to enable a carefree lifestyle. As a Life Care community, Stevenson Oaks independent living residents will have priority access to on-site assisted living, memory support, skilled nursing and rehab services at substantially discounted rates.

“MRC is committed to strong resident programming to enhance residents’ lifestyles, including an environment that supports intergenerational programming,” Jennette said in the release. “We look forward to Stevenson Oaks carrying on the tradition of other successful MRC communities throughout Texas. It’s an exciting time for our organization to grow our mission, serve more seniors, and help provide them and their families a secure future.”
