Pettit to begin economic development firm

David Pettit of Bennett Benner Pettit will be starting a new economic development firm, though he will continue to work with BBP on several projects, he announced last week. “I am pleased to be starting my own firm and building upon the successes we have had here at BBP,” Pettit said. “We have been fortunate to be a part of many dynamic and exciting projects.”

The new firm, David Pettit Economic Development LLC, is the result of a study conducted by the firm to expand the focus of Pettit’s economic development consulting services to a broader range of clientele, accordning to a news release. Pettit will transition out of his current role with BBP over the coming months and into his new firm. Bennett Benner Pettit will change the firm name to Bennett Benner Partners.

“We are very excited for David as he starts this new venture and are grateful for his leadership, hard work and expertise during his time at BBP,” said BBP Principal and CEO Michael Bennett. Pettit has been with BBP for more than 10 years and has worked on projects such as The Tower, Montgomery Plaza, One City Plaza, Trinity Bluff, La Gran Plaza, West 7th, Acme Brick Headquarters, Midtown and Klein Tools relocation to Mansfield. He has worked as a consultant for numerous public and private clients addressing a wide scope of economic development and real estate matters. His work includes the creation and modification of tax increment reinvestment zones and public improvement districts. “This move gives me the opportunity to expand the economic development aspects of the business into other areas and industries,” Pettit said.
