Belk plans Euless store, 16th statewide

Belk Inc. has announced plans for a 95,000-square-foot store in Glade Parks, the new 194-acre mixed-use development in Euless.

It will be the ninth store in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and the 16th in Texas for the retailer based in Charlotte, N.C.

The store will offer premium brands of apparel, shoes, accessories and home merchandise.

Construction will begin in July and the grand opening is set for March 16, 2016. Shoppers can expect a store similar to the Belk’s at Alliance Town Center, which opened in 2008.

“We’re pleased to be opening a brand new store at Glade Parks to better serve our customers in Euless and surrounding areas,” said David Luoma, chairman of Belk Inc.’s Western Division, commenting in a news release.

Glade Parks, located at Texas 121 near Glade Road and Cheek-Sparger Road, is anchored by a Super Target and Walmart Supercenter. Construction is underway for the opening this summer of several other retailers, including Dave & Buster’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Home Goods, Michaels Arts & Crafts, Ulta Salon & Cosmetics, Boot Barn, Cato, Five Below, Massage Envy and Kirklands.

Belk has served North Central Texas since 2004, with stores in Dallas, McKinney, Flower Mound, Fort Worth, Weatherford, Waxahachie, Rockwall and Greenville. In 2014, Belk opened its first flagship location in Texas at Galleria Dallas.

TCU’s Worth Hills Village

adds new dining hall

The newest building in Texas Christian University’s Worth Hills Village, a multipurpose dining hall, has opened.

Designed by KSQ Architects, the 39,200-square-foot structure offers 710 seats and four dining venues: a bistro, Tex-Mex eatery, a grill and a grab-and-go market. It marks the anchor building for a community planned to house 1,770 students when complete.

The grand dining area features a high, classical barrel-vault ceiling. A balcony from the second floor connects visually to the second floor, where a glass-encased elevator and stair open to soft seating, Greek Life offices, and flexible space that can be used for dining, studying or special meetings and dinners, according to KSQ Architects.

The project team received LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, denoting several environmentally friendly features. The project team also received high marks for the use of recycled content and materials, water-use reduction, green power and energy measurement and verification, and for offering public transportation access and alternative transportation incentives to students.

KSQ Architects, with local offices in Grapevine, has provided architectural services for more than 15 new or renovated residence halls on the TCU campus since 1995. Teaming with KSQ on the project were The Beck Group of Dallas, Wallace Engineering, Huitt-Zollars Inc. of Fort Worth Inc., Dunaway Associates Inc. of Fort Worth and Newman Jackson Bieberstein Inc. of Dallas.

Jambo’s BBQ Shack

coming to west Arlington

Machi renovated the shuttered, single-story building for restaurant use. The restaurant is expected to open in late June.
