Need space to practice roundhouse kicks and fist-enforced Texas justice? You’re in luck: Chuck Norris’ spacious former Dallas home, complete with a gym featuring memorabilia from his Walker, Texas Ranger television series, is on the market. The Mediterranean ranch-style home in the tony Dallas neighborhood of Northwood Hills also was the on-screen residence of Cordell Walker, the roundhouse-kicking Texas Ranger who battled villainy at every turn. Norris portrayed Walker in the CBS series that ran for eight seasons. It ended in 2001, but lives on in syndication. Portions of the series were shot in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The 7,362-square-foot home is listed for $1.2 million. Along with the weight room, it’s listed as having four bedrooms, seven full bathrooms and a theater. There’s also a separate building that served as a studio for the filming of Walker, Texas Ranger, as well as other Norris productions, according to listing agent Rogers Healy of Rogers Healy and Associates Real Estate in Dallas. Norris co-owned the property with his brother, Aaron Norris. – Associated Press
More good ol’ boy news Ricky Bobby Sports Saloon, a new restaurant and sports bar with a NASCAR racing theme, has opened down the road apiece from the Texas Motor Speedway. The restaurant and sports bar, at 2200 NE Loop 820, is the latest concept from Houston-based Rick’s Cabaret International Inc. The restaurant features a menu designed by restaurant consultant David Simmons to appeal to dining – and driving – enthusiasts, including what it bills as the largest chicken-fried steak in Texas. “We have traditional items with a Ricky Bobby flair such as our mac ‘n cheese bacon burger, crazy corn, funnel cake, and yes, the largest chicken-fried steak in Texas,” said Simmons in a news release. The Ricky Bobby restaurant includes multiple giant flat-screen televisions throughout, plus a 3,000-square-foot outdoor patio with fire pits, fountains and a stage for live band performances. A fountain and an authentic NASCAR racer with the number 39 and a Ricky Bobby logo greet guests. Ricky Bobby is a fictional character from a Will Ferrell film.
